Diabetes Canada is recognizing its long-standing partnership with HealthPartners, a collaboration that has helped mobilize workplaces, donors and communities to respond to diabetes as a major health issue in Canada.

Since 1997, just over $19.5 million has been pledged to Diabetes Canada through HealthPartners. The milestone reflects the sustained generosity of HealthPartners’ donor community and workplace partners as the need for action continues to grow.

Today, more than four million people in Canada are diagnosed with diabetes, and every three minutes another person is diagnosed, underscoring the scale, complexity and urgency of the chronic condition.

“As someone living with type 2 diabetes, I can attest that diabetes affects nearly every aspect of a person’s life,” said Laura Syron, President and CEO of Diabetes Canada. “Support through HealthPartners helps ensure people living with diabetes are not navigating this journey alone and enables Diabetes Canada to continue advancing research, providing trusted support and advocating for better care and access.”

Diabetes Canada works to improve quality of life for people living with diabetes by supporting them through every stage of their journey. The organization provides practical information and tools, supports health-care professionals to strengthen care, advocates for policy change and funds research to advance treatments and care.

As a member of HealthPartners, Diabetes Canada is part of a collective of health charities working to address some of the most pressing health challenges facing Canadians.

“Diabetes Canada is a vital part of HealthPartners, making our collective stronger and helping us reflect a health issue that touches millions of Canadians,” said Margaux StastnyCEO of HealthPartners. “Their presence helps us connect workplaces and donors to a cause that is both deeply personal and widely felt.”
