Overview of the 2018 Conference

Diabetes Canada and the CSEM would like to thank everyone who attended the 2018 Diabetes Canada/CSEM Professional Conference. We would especially like to thank our speakers, abstract presenters, session chairs, and abstract reviewers whose participation made the conference a remarkable success.

The scientific sessions brought together over 1,700 attendees, providing unique opportunities for diabetes health-care professionals to make important connections. The sessions, which features over 100 speakers, ranged from 1,500 attendees to intimate one-on-one conversations around a poster board. Many personal and professional connections were made at every corner of the convention center, including the 128 poster presentations, 48 oral presentations and four case studies. The exhibit hall showcased over 60 exhibitors and there were seven sponsored symposia with topics ranging from basic science to clinical care.

Diabetes 360, a new and exciting Diabetes Canada strategy, was also promoted during conference (, urging the government to commit to funding the strategic framework in Budget 2019 before the burden of diabetes gets worse.

We thank all who attended and we look forward to seeing you in Winnipeg in 2019.
