You've come to the right place if making a planned gift is on your mind. As Diabetes Canada’s planned giving senior manager I help individuals and families with their estate planning needs—and have seen firsthand how powerful a planned gift is for creating a meaningful legacy.

Planned gifts are arranged today and received in the future, most often through a will or other long-term financial plan.

No matter the size, each one helps to realize our shared vision of a world free from diabetes. Your future support ensures that Diabetes Canada can continue advancing research, providing vital education and advocating for better care for generations of people with diabetes to come.

What are the most common ways to give?

  1. A gift in your will (bequest) Leave a specific amount, percentage or remainder of your estate.

  2. Gifts of securities Donate stocks, bonds or mutual funds for tax advantages and greater impact.

  3. Registered funds Name Diabetes Canada as a beneficiary of your:

    •    Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP)
    •    Registered Retirement Income Fund (RRIF)
    •    Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA), a simple and tax-efficient way to support a cause you care about.
  4. Life insurance You can name Diabetes Canada as a beneficiary or transfer ownership of a policy. This can allow you to make a larger gift than might otherwise be possible during your lifetime.

Why your legacy matters

Leaving even a small portion of your estate to Diabetes Canada can spark real change. Your generosity may inspire others to give, and your legacy will live on—helping people today and well into the future.
