Thank you for your support
Our daughter Joanna attended Camp Huronda nearly 45 years ago—it was a life-changing experience for her and for us. That is why we decided to step up and help with a much-needed campaign at the camp, which urgently required new washrooms.
Our goal is to raise $2 million for this important project. We are delighted to announce that, to date, we have raised over $1,750,000. This tremendous achievement was made possible only because of donors like you. We deeply appreciate your consideration in joining us. Together, let us ensure that future generations of children living with type 1 diabetes continue to experience Camp Huronda in a safe, accessible, and inspiring environment. Thank you.

Update: A milestone moment at Camp Huronda
On Sunday, May 31, 2026, Camp Huronda celebrated the opening of its new washroom facilities, which marked a significant milestone for our flagship camp.
To offer our 2026 season campers the opportunity to enjoy the new facilities, Diabetes Canada has committed to completing the project by bridging the balance through organizational reserves. We continue to seek support for the outstanding $245,000 and need your help now more than ever.
The opening of the facilities marked the successful realization of a goal that Diabetes Canada has pursued for more than two decades. Diabetes Canada is deeply grateful to the Jackson family, who led this campaign, and to their daughter Joanna, whose story inspired its launch in 2023—along with the hundreds of generous donors who made this project possible.
The new facility demonstrates firsthand a blend of modern design with the camp's welcoming cottage atmosphere. Guests were delighted by the quality and thoughtfulness of the new space. It was a meaningful event for everyone in attendance, and a powerful reminder of the lasting impact that donor generosity will have on the lives of campers for decades to come.
Please help us provide campers with modern, hygienic and accessible facilities that are critical in a medically oriented environment.
