(November 16, 2021) – From November 23-26, 2021, Diabetes Canada and the Canadian Society of Endocrinology and Metabolism (CSEM) will hold their 24th annual Professional Conference virtually. The conference will bring together top health-care providers and scientists from across the country and around the world to share the latest research into the understanding, care and management of diabetes and other endocrine conditions.
“This year is the 100th anniversary of the discovery of insulin and unfortunately more people in Canada are living with diabetes than ever before,” says Laura Syron, President and CEO for Diabetes Canada. “It’s crucial to support the health-care provider community with the latest research and resources to help guide patient care as they will change the future of this disease, so we don’t have to wait another 100 years to end diabetes. “
Speakers at the conference will cover a variety of topics to educate and inform health-care providers on the latest advances in diabetes prevention and treatment. This includes important subjects such as leading-edge research, racism within healthcare systems, social barriers to care, Indigenous science, history of insulin, diabetes and mental health, clinical islet cell transplantation, sex differences in diabetes, diabetes remission and much more.
