Party hearty—but healthy—in the New Year

The typical adult puts on almost one pound of body weight during the holiday season, according to a study published in The New England Journal of Medicine. That may not seem like a lot, but consider this: Most people tend not to lose this weight in the spring and summer of the new year, which can result in a slow creep upward on the scale throughout adulthood, the study suggests.
