As a program dedication to serving children, youth and families living with type 1 diabetes, D-Camps is committed to excellence in serving all customers including people with disabilities.

Our accessible customer service policies can be found here and are consistent with the principles of independence, dignity, integration, and equality of opportunity for people with disabilities. D-Camps is also committed to complying with both Human Right Codes and the Accessibility standards in Canada.

At Diabetes Canada we strive to create camp and youth programs which welcome children, youth, and families living with type 1 diabetes regardless of ability, colour, ethnicity, exceptionality, gender identity or expression, race, religion, and/or sexual orientation. D-Camps aims to be open and accessible to all participants, ensuring that identification and/or affiliation with the above categories does not act as a barrier, obstacle, or deterrent that presents a child from experiencing a traditional camp experience. At D-Camps we operate several programs across the country, including many hosted at various rental facilities. We recognize individual needs may vary based on the physical environment. We are committed to working with caregivers to provide equitable opportunities for all participants through a camp experience that accommodates their needs. D-Camps aims to foster a comfortable and fun environment, free of harassment, discrimination, hostility, isolation, and any other afflictions of systematic oppression. There are existing inclusion policies in place to ensure the camp environment and culture is supportive for any participants, staff, and volunteers, who have not indicated any specific identity or affiliation prior to the start of their involvement in our programs. If you have any questions about our existing policies or, how we can best support your camper at our programs, please contact us at camps@diabetes.ca where we will connect you with the Camp Director in your region. We are happy to discuss how to best accommodate you and your camper for a great experience. Furthermore, throughout the camp, participants and families are welcome to speak to the Camp Director about accommodation needs that may arise and will remain confidential.

To ensure that we can provide the best experience for all our participants we ask that families complete all registration forms thoroughly and truthfully. The more information we know about our participants the better we can support their needs. The confidential information in these forms is not a determining factor of your child’s acceptance to camp. Should you require support completing the registration process please contact camps@diabetes.ca where we will connect you with our Administrative Coordinator, to discuss more accessible options for your individual needs.

D-Camps welcomes feedback on how we provide accessible customer service. Customer feedback will help us identify barriers and respond to concerns.
