Educate people with diabetes about living healthy lives

By giving a Learning Series group presentation, you will have the opportunity to interact with people living with diabetes and share knowledge of how to live well and prevent complications of the disease. As a trained presenter, you will deliver presentations at locations across your community. An orientation and a facilitator’s guide will be included in your training. Presenters will learn how best to impart general information and when to refer individuals to a healthcare professional. Most opportunities for presentations will occur weekday mornings and afternoons.

Other volunteer opportunities include representing the Association at health fairs, diabetes expos or symposia, where you can share information about living a healthy life with diabetes. Volunteers organize these events, provide day-of logistics (registering participants, etc.) and/or provide information and literature to people with diabetes. Volunteers providing information to people with diabetes are trained to answer general questions and to refer people with diabetes to a healthcare professional. These events are seasonal and often take place on evenings or weekends.
