Problems with insulin

Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert glucose into energy needed for daily life. It helps to control the levels of glucose in your bloodstream.

Insulin resistance is a condition characterized by the body’s inability to respond to and use insulin that it produces, meaning that insulin cannot function properly and higher levels of insulin are needed to achieve the same effects. This can result in high blood glucose levels and high levels of insulin in the blood. If allowed to worsen, type 2 diabetes can develop.
