Time to Get Serious

Dan Poole is a proud member of Team Diabetes, doing his first 10K with the team at the 2012 Calgary Marathon. His story is not uncommon, but it is inspiring. Dan is 43 and just over a year ago, he had a heart attack. After waking up in hospital under close medical attention, Dan decided it was time to make a decision. Living with diabetes for over 30 years, he admittedly didn’t take care of himself as well as he could have. He didn’t check his blood sugars, monitor his diet or exercise regularly. He decided it was time to begin living a positive, healthy lifestyle.

One of the most popular events on the Team Diabetes calendar, Reykjavik is the world’s most northern capital city and is surrounded by Iceland’s breathtaking landscape. It is also one of the liveliest and most modern cities on earth offering visitors a dynamic, Icelandic experience.

Conquer the Crater, Iceland, August 24, 2013 - register by March 1. Team Diabetes is excited to offer our fourth “Conquer” hike destination! Conquer the Crater is a spectacular one day hike that offers participants an amazing challenge off the beaten track. Iceland’s dramatic and unique landscape will provide a once in a lifetime hiking experience that you will not forget!
