Many of our Team Diabetes members come to us with a very personal connection to diabetes and running with the team is only a part of their story. One of our newest team members, Michelle Appleton, ran with Team Diabetes in the Toronto GoodLife Marathon on May 6th and hasn’t slowed down since! Many of Michelle’s family members live with diabetes and struggle each and every day with the disease. Driven by the desire to create awareness and inspired by her family, Michelle ran with the team and raised much needed funds for the Canadian Diabetes Association. |

Edinburgh - Athens of the North |
Walk or run with Team Diabetes in Edinburgh, the “Athens of the North”! Perhaps best known for its formidable castles such as Edinburgh and Craigmillar, by the late 18th century many new public buildings were built in the Greek neo-classical style. This, in addition to being one of the historical centres of the Age of Enlightenment, gave rise to the nickname ‘Athens of the North’. Outside the city, the landscapes are just as striking as the architecture. From the East Lothian beaches to the Pentland Hills, the beauty of the Scottish countryside is truly captivating. Whether your interests take you to the many historical sites, off the beaten path or a combination of both, Edinburgh and area is a destination not to be missed. |

Summer can present some fundraising challenges. People are away on vacation, occupied with their other summer activities or playing catch-up from previous months. With Team Diabetes events happening year-round, it’s important to maintain your fundraising momentum even if you cannot connect with your donors face to face. A great way to do this is online. Social media is a powerful tool to reach people while still having a personal touch. Read on for a small sampling of the social media platforms you can use. |
