Walk, Run, Cycle for Diabetes 2011 – Windsor, ON - March 20, 2011

Walk or run a 5K with Team Diabetes this March 20 at Wildwood Golf and RV Resort in Windsor. This will be Team Diabetes’ second community, grass-roots event and proves to be another large success. ‘Run the Greens for Diabetes’ organizers Mickey Fryer and Stefanie Rossi are longtime Team Diabetes participants with Mickey leading many events as an official trainer for the program.

Vancouver TV Personality Running in Reykjavik for Sister

Johanna Ward grew up on Vancouver Island, where her family including her sister living with type 1 diabetes still lives. She is currently the host of Shaw TV’s lifestyle magazine program, The Express. “The Express is all about what makes Metro Vancouver amazing! The people, the places, and the purpose - It’s a show that makes you feel good,” she enthused.

Team Diabetes Webinar – Fundraising 101

Join us for our Fundraising 101 webinar. If you have been thinking of signing up for an event or have recently joined the team, this will be an extremely informative hour that will set you on the path to success! If you have already started fundraising, you will come away with some new fundraising ideas and tips to help get you to your final goal. It’s also a great opportunity to exchange fundraising ideas with team members from across Canada!

The Reykjavik Marathon Marathon is a unique opportunity to travel to one of the most remote yet visually stunning regions on earth. The course, follows Reykjavik’s beautiful coastline and the marathon starts and finishes in the heart of downtown Reykjavik. Reykjavik Cultural Night, which coincides with the marathon, attracts nearly half the Icelandic population. Complete your marathon and then celebrate all night in the streets of Reykjavik!

Training Tip

10K Training Tips…

While just about anyone can hop in a 5K, the 10K (6.2 mile), is for those in good shape and is not to be taken lightly.

If you can run a 10K without any recovery problems, then running a marathon is attainable just by making some modifications and adjustments to your running workouts. Also the 10K is a good distance to learn about threshold pace which is important for any competitive runner.
