“You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.”
~Winston Churchill

April 23 to 29 is National Volunteer Week, which honours the 12.7 million Canadians who volunteer in non-profit organizations. At Diabetes Canada, we truly appreciate all the ways our volunteers care.

Across the country this week we are celebrating and saying thank you to all of our remarkable volunteers, their dedication and passion for this cause truly humbles us.

I want to take this opportunity to sincerely thank each of our volunteers on behalf of our Board Chair, Jim Newton, our entire Board of Directors and all of our Diabetes Canada staff members. We are deeply grateful to the more than 40,000 volunteers who support this organization.

The endless contributions of our volunteers, who make generous donations of time, talent and energy, allow us to provide programs and services that are making a real difference in communities across Canada.

Our Diabetes Canada volunteers are helping to make the invisible epidemic of diabetes visible on behalf of the 11 million Canadians living with diabetes or prediabetes.

Thank you again to our volunteers for all you have done, continue to do and will do in the future because, together, I am confident we can end diabetes.

Best wishes and onwards,

J. Richard Blickstead
