The Novo Nordisk International Conference Medical Education grant is aimed at helping to ensure that Canadian healthcare professionals are educated and kept informed on developments in health research, health sciences and clinical and professional practices at the international level.

Purpose

The Novo Nordisk International Conference Medical Education grant is aimed at helping to ensure that Canadian healthcare professionals are educated and kept informed on developments in health research, health sciences and clinical and professional practices at the international level. The Novo Nordisk International Conference Medical Education grant supports the attendance of eligible delegates to appropriate international conferences.

The Award

Two (2) grants of up to $4,000 each will be awarded to a Diabetes Canada Professional Section Member to attend an international medical education conference/congress such as:

  • International Diabetes Federation (IDF)
  • American Diabetes Association (ADA)
  • American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE)
  • European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD)
  • Other (individual suggests an appropriate conference)

Eligibility

  • Be a Diabetes Canada Professional Section member with membership dues paid for at least the past two years
  • Be a Diabetes Canada Professional Section student member who is currently enrolled in full-time studies OR who has graduated within the past FIVE years with an interest in diabetes management
  • Canadian Citizen or landed immigrant

Note: Members of The Awards Committee and the Co- Chairs of the Awards and Membership Portfolio are not eligible to for nomination.

Nomination Process

Requirements:

  • Applications must be typed or submitted in electronic format (i.e.: Word document or pdf) on the official form available from the Diabetes Canada website.
  • Each application must include a projected budget.

Approval Process

The decision to grant the award annually is at the discretion of the Awards Committee. The committee reserves the right to not grant the award in any given year if a suitable candidate is not identified. All decisions of the Awards Committee are final and not subject to appeal.

Notification Process:

The Awards Committee will meet to select the successful applicant. All applicants will be notified of their application status.  Unsuccessful candidates are encouraged to re-submit their application for the following year.
