Thank you for volunteering!
Each year the Canadian Diabetes Association relies on volunteers like you to help us carry on our work. By volunteering, you are making a direct impact on people affected by diabetes in your community. We appreciate your commitment and thank you for your time and effort.
The CDA is always looking for volunteers to help throughout the year. If you or someone you know is interested in finding out about the numerous opportunities we offer, please visit our volunteer webpage, call us at 1-800-BANTING (226-8464) or contact your local CDA office.
For your reference, the following are materials that have been developed to assist you during your canvassing campaign.
While canvassing, you may receive questions from donors about diabetes. The following downloadable file is a fact sheet that will help you answer any basic questions at the door. If the donor requires additional information that you may not have, please ask them to either visit diabetes.ca or call 1-800-BANTING (226-8464).
Upholding your trust
The CDA leads the fight against diabetes by helping people with diabetes live healthy lives while we work to find a cure. The CDA knows that donations are a demonstration of trust – trust that we’ll use the very most of every dollar received to help Canadians with diabetes to live healthier lives, and to enable researchers in their quest to find a cure.
The CDA’s Accountability Statement is available online, it explains how the CDA spends funds for diabetes programs and services.
We keep in constant dialogue with Canadians living with diabetes, health-care professionals and researchers. They help us to determine the best use of donations to deliver meaningful support that meets real needs of people with diabetes and those who care for them.
Every dollar is gratefully received and wisely invested in the fight against diabetes to help the more than nine million Canadians living with diabetes or prediabetes.
The CDA will continue to be proactive in communicating our fundraising information in addition to working with organizations such as Imagine Canada and the Health Charities Coalition of Canada (HCCC) to ensure transparency with our donors
