Whether you are living with diabetes or have a family member, friend or co-worker who is, we want to hear your story. Why should the government of Newfoundland and Labrador make diabetes a priority this election?

"As a mother who raised a child with type 1 diabetes and as an adult living with type 2 diabetes I am acutely aware of the challenges and hardships that people face trying to manage this disease. Not only are people living with diabetes challenged physically and psychologically but they are also challenged financially on a daily basis. From buying basic nutritious foods to paying for life sustaining medications and treatments to successfully manage this disease, the majority of people living with diabetes are continuously challenged financially.

"I wish the government of Newfoundland and Labrador would make diabetes a priority during this election so that ALL people and families living with diabetes will have equal access to healthy food, medications and treatments that are necessary for us to live a healthy life and not be a 'burden' to the already 'overextended' health-care system of this province."

- Dawn Gallant, RN (St. John's)
