Gift by Will (Bequest)
A bequest is a relatively simple way to make a gift to the Canadian Diabetes Association. You can leave a specific amount, a specific percentage, or choose to leave the residue of your estate after other debts and particular bequests have been paid.
Sample Wording:
The following is sample wording for your Will:
Percentage Gift
“I direct my trustees to pay or transfer to the Canadian Diabetes Association ___ % of my estate.”
Residual Gift
After paying debts and other bequests: “I direct my trustees to pay or transfer to the Canadian Diabetes Association the whole (or ____ %) of the residue of my estate.”
Specific Gift
“I direct my trustees to pay or transfer to the Canadian Diabetes Association the sum of $________
(OR) I direct my trustees to transfer to the Canadian Diabetes Association (identify the personal property to be given, for example 500 shares of XYZ stock).”
