Team Diabetes Conquers the Grand Canyon

For the first time in the program’s history, Team Diabetes entered an untimed race. Last month, 24 participants including Association staff members Dawn Ayer, Jay Hooper and Trevor McLellan, put on hiking boots instead of running shoes and ventured down one of the most amazing natural wonders of the world for an exciting and challenging hiking adventure. “Participants reported that they enjoyed the event because it wasn’t about racing or beating a time,” said Fred De Fina, Director, Team Diabetes. “This type of event opens the program up to people who might not otherwise join Team Diabetes.”

The event was so successful that the team will be returning in October 2010. So encourage friends, family and colleagues who have a thirst for adventure to visit teamdiabetes.ca or contact their local Coordinator.
