Seniors take steps for diabetes
The Canadian Diabetes Association (CDA) is pleased to share the news of a new fundraising and awareness initiative with Chartwell Seniors Housing in Regina.
With the cause of diabetes awareness in mind – and a fundraising goal of $4,500 for the CDA - Renaissance Retirement Residence has charted out six months of unique activities that put the fun in fundraising.
The latest activity - launched on July 13, 2011 - is a walking challenge...a six-week-long friendly fundraising competition between residents and staff, to see which team can walk the most steps and raise the most money for the Canadian Diabetes Association.
According to Kelly Rice, Social Coordinator for Regina Renaissance Retirement Residence this is a great opportunity to reach out and help raise awareness for not only her seniors, but also their families and our staff. “This is a great chance to make a positive impact in our community as well as with our own residents living with diabetes.”
NEXT UP:
On Thursday, July 21st - between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. families of Renaissance Retirement Residence residents will have the chance to “get checked” through a Diabetes Risk Assessment Screening, and in the evening (7:00 p.m. onward) can listen to a live band, and have snacks and refreshments while they visit as part of Family Appreciation Day. *For details, please call Kelly Rice, Social Coordinator for Regina Renaissance Retirement Residence at 525-8686.
