Pharmacies Join Diabetes Outreach Program

Tags: Manitoba

Winnipeg, Manitoba (Aug 7, 2012)– People living with diabetes in Winnipeg now have another resource to access relevant and timely information to help them better manage their diabetes.

The Canadian Diabetes Association is pleased to welcome Jason Hoeppner of The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy at 660 Osborne Street and Andrew Chubey of You Drugmart at 359 Johnson Ave W as the newest members of the Community Pharmacy Outreach Program, joining hundreds of other pharmacies across Canada that offer additional assistance for those living with diabetes.

“For many people, a neighbourhood pharmacist is one of the most trusted sources for healthcare advice,” said Andrea Kwasnicki, Regional Director, Manitoba/Nunavut Region, Canadian Diabetes Association.  “Now those living with diabetes know that the knowledgeable and committed employees of these pharmacies are there to answer their questions, provide valuable support and offer the latest information from our Association.”

Pharmacies that join the program have well-informed and committed staff to assist with insulin meter training, advice and one-on-one consultations.  Pharmacies also provide the latest in Canadian Diabetes Association literature and resources including information on upcoming public education events in the area.
