Canadian Diabetes Association’s Clothesline® Program asks for your support in collecting 4 million kilograms of clothing during Spring Campaign 2009

Spring cleaning season is upon us and the Canadian Diabetes Association’s Clothesline® Program needs your donated clothing to reach its goal of collecting 4 million kilograms across Canada.  ‘Sew’ the seeds of hope will commence May 6th and run until the end of June.  This community driven initiative is also timely as May 31st - June 6th, 2009 is Canadian Environment Week and your opportunity to help both the Canadian Diabetes Association and our environment.  Please call 1-800-505-5525 to schedule a free pick-up right from your door.

Each year, Clothesline® donations divert more than 42 million kilograms of clothing and household items from our landfills.  This translates into a savings of 766 million kWh of energy and reduces our donors’ carbon footprint by 105 million kilograms of CO2 emissions.  This energy savings is enough to power more than 42 thousand households for the entire year!

Equally important, 100% of the proceeds from donations are used to support the Association’s mission of promoting the health of Canadians through diabetes research, education, service and advocacy.  Help support the 8.5 million Canadians living with or at risk of diabetes.
