Mr. Dickinson was presented with the 2012 National Volunteer of the Year Award in recognition of his significant contributions to the Canadian Diabetes Association regionally and nationally, his strong voice in the organization's advocacy efforts, and his dedication to carrying out the organization's mission.
His volunteer contributions and roles have included the following:
- Regional Volunteer Chair for Northern Saskatchewan
- Learning Series presenter
- Regional Annual Meeting Committee member
- Regional Volunteer Awards Banquet Committee member
- Prairies Advocacy Committee member
- National Advocacy Committee member
"In his relatively short time with the Association, Peter's involvement with and contributions to the Canadian Diabetes Association have truly been outstanding, making him a deserving recipient of the 2012 National Volunteer of the Year Award. He has become a sounding board and strong representative for the Canadian Diabetes Association team in Saskatchewan," said Warren Wagner, Regional Director, Canadian Diabetes Association, Saskatchewan. "Though his volunteer contributions are tremendous, Peter goes far beyond, serving as a valuable resource, trainer and mentor for young and new volunteers and an outstanding mentor and advisor for employees."
"The Canadian Diabetes Association is thrilled to formally acknowledge the outstanding work of our volunteers and supporters through our national awards program. They are critical to the success of our mission delivery," said Michael Cloutier, President & CEO of the Canadian Diabetes Association. "Peter Dickinson has demonstrated a true dedication to making a difference in the lives of the more than nine million Canadians who are living with diabetes or prediabetes. On behalf of the Association, I'd like to congratulate Peter for his tremendous contributions and express our sincere appreciation for all those who were nominated."
Mr. Dickinson was recognized at the Association's National Awards Presentation recently held in Vancouver.
