Camp Discovery (Dorchester, Ontario)

2012 Camp Application Process

Discover good times and good friends

Discovery offers a wide variety of age-appropriate programs for our campers. Swimming, arts & crafts, campfires, a low-ropes course and archery are a few of the activities our campers enjoy!

Who: Campers aged 8-15 living with type 1 diabetes

Location: Camp Discovery is located at the Stevenson Children’s Camp, just east of London in Dorchester Ontario.

Dates: One Week Session August 26–to August 31.

Fees
Camp Discovery will once again be offering a “3-Tiered Voluntary Pricing Program” for the 2012 summer. We have done this for a few reasons: first, we recognize that our families have different abilities to pay. Second, we feel it is important that we begin to communicate the true cost of camp to our camper families. Historically, we have been charging roughly 55% of the true cost directly to our participants. This of course has placed a tremendous burden on the camps’ capacity. In order to continue to provide the camping services that we do for children with type 1 diabetes in Ontario, we need to take a more proactive approach in how we manage our subsidies. We hope to achieve this with the continuation of the voluntary 3-tiered pricing program. Please take a minute to review the payment fee options and determine which one is best for you:

Tier 1: Actual Cost = $950
Tier 2: Partially Subsidized = $725
Tier 3: Heavily Subsidized = $575

This is strictly a voluntary program. You select the fee you feel is appropriate and that is what you will pay.  The program is voluntary and in no way will influence the experience your camper will have at Discovery.  The camp staff will not have access to what you’ve paid.

Campership (subsidies)
Camper subsidies may be available from the Canadian Diabetes Association for families that require financial assistance. For more information please email or 705-789-7153.

Registration Application Process for 2012
The 2012 application process begins by going online to http://www.diabetes.ca/camps

This year you will be able to register online as well as make your initial deposit payment and final payment. In order to maintain your registration status/hold your spot, you must return all required documentation, including future payments, medical and dietary forms, etc., on the specified dates. Failure to do so may result in the cancellation of your registration up to the discretion of the Camp Registrar.  Late requests will be accepted until the camp is full. Spaces fill up extremely fast – we encourage you to apply early!
