2013 will be 30th Anniversary of the Reykjavik Marathon so we couldn’t miss the opportunity to return to our most popular event to celebrate with them! This event is a unique opportunity to travel to one of the most remote yet visually stunning regions on earth. The course follows Reykjavik’s beautiful coastline and the marathon starts and finishes in the heart of downtown Reykjavik. Reykjavik Cultural Night, which coincides with the marathon, attracts nearly half the Icelandic population. Complete your marathon and then celebrate all night in the streets of Reykjavik!

There will also be a one day hike, taking place on the same day as the marathon, will offer participants an amazing experience off the beaten track. Iceland’s dramatic and unique landscape will provide a once in a lifetime hiking experience that you will not forget! Click here for more details about Conquer the Crater.

More about Reykjavik and nearby attractions
The world’s most northern capital city, Reykjavik is clean, crisp and refreshingly distinct. It is also one of the liveliest, sophisticated and modern cities on earth. Most of Iceland’s popularity is due to its natural features that include glaciers, hot springs, geysers, active volcanoes, fjords and vast lava deserts.

Blue Lagoon - The Blue Lagoon is Iceland’s most famous bathing experience and one of the most interesting places to visit in the country. It is a unique geothermal spa where guests can relax in warm geothermal seawater amongst magical lava fields and black sandy beaches.

Gullfoss - Gullfoss (The Golden Waterfall) is Iceland’s most famous waterfall and one of the most popular tourist attractions in the country. On a sunlit day, the mist clouds surrounding the falls are filled with dozens of rainbows, providing an unparalleled spectacle of color and motion.

Geysir - Geysir is the namesake of all geysers around the world. Although it is no longer active, Geysir’s neighbour – the Strokkur throws steam and water up to 30 meters into the sky every 5 minutes or so! There are around thirty much smaller geysers and hot pools in the area, including one called Litli Geysir (’Little Geysir’) and it is a sight not to be missed.
