Sylvester Stallone appearance brings donations to Canadian Diabetes Association
On February 23, over 900 guests gathered to dine with movie icon Sylvester Stallone and raise money for diabetes education, services and research. Organized by Carmen’s Banquet Centre, the evening was complete with a VIP and dinner reception, and live and silent auctions made up of “Rocky” memorabilia. Guests also enjoyed a talk delivered by Stallone and movie critic Brian Johnson. For an additional fee of $1500 minimum, attendees had their picture taken with the movie star.
Over $100,000 raised from ticket sales, donations and the evening program went to the Canadian Diabetes Association. An additional donation of $30,000 was also made from Mr. John Wordsworth of Sure Flow Equipment.
Carmen’s Banquet Centre has hosted celebrity receptions for charity over the past two years; previous guests include James Woods and Al Pacino. The support of our partners makes it possible for the Canadian Diabetes Association to lead the fight against diabetes by helping people with diabetes live healthy lives while we work to find a cure.
