On October 20, 2011 Doug McWilliams, Regional Manager (Southern Alberta) of Shaw Communications presented Nancy Hammer, Managing Director-Corporate and Foundation Giving, of the Canadian Diabetes Association with a generous donation of $14,093. As part of the employee giving program, Shaw matches the contributions made to charities by their employees. Since 1997, Shaw has donated over $100,000 to the Association.

“Shaw is committed to supporting organizations that have a strong impact on our communities,” said McWilliams, “We proudly support the work that is being done by the Canadian Diabetes Association in making life easier for those living with diabetes.”

Shaw supports employees who donate both their time and money to not for profit organizations through matching funds and grants; through employee giving, they are contributing to the Canadian Diabetes Association’s programs, research and education efforts.

It’s through the support of our partners that the Canadian Diabetes Association is able to lead the fight against diabetes by helping people with diabetes live healthy lives while we work to find a cure. We are thankful for Shaw’s contribution to help us make a difference for people with diabetes.

Shaw supports not only the Canadian Diabetes Association but also the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the Diabetes Clinic at the Alberta Children’s Hospital.  To date, they have donated more than $1.1 million to help these diabetes focused organizations.
