Canadian Diabetes Association supports high-risk group
TORONTO, ON (November 22, 2012) – In recognition of Diabetes Awareness Month, the Canadian Diabetes Association and its South Asian Diabetes Chapter will host the fifth annual South Asian Diabetes Expo this Saturday.
More than one million Ontarians are living with diabetes, and that number is expected to rise to over 1.9 million by 2020. People of Asian, South Asian, Chinese, African and Latin ancestry face a higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes. The South Asian Diabetes Expo offers culturally-specific information and tools to help prevent and manage diabetes and improve overall health.

Time: 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (see below for detailed schedule)
Location: Dreams Convention Centre, 75 Hedgedale Road, Brampton, Ontario
Details: Free admission, parking, prizes and giveaways. Light refreshments and lunch are also provided free of charge. An exhibition will feature diabetes-related products and services, and opportunities to speak one-on-one with dietitians, pharmacists, foot care specialists and other healthcare professionals. Clothesline® trucks will be on-site to accept donations of gently used clothing, small household items and electronics.
