Tackling diabetes in BC

Diabetes is a serious disease in British Columbia. Currently, nearly 250,000 British Columbians live with diabetes – exceeding levels the World Health Organization (WHO) predicted would not hit B.C. until 2030. Diabetes costs all of us. Today the provincial government spends more than $775 million a year to treat people with diabetes. And experts
predict an 85 per cent jump in numbers by 2016. If we do not act now, our children and grandchildren may not inherit a healthcare system that can meet their needs.
