Canadian Diabetes Association Chair in Diabetes Management
With the objective of advancing the management of diabetes in Canada, the Canadian Diabetes Association and the University of Western Ontario (UWO) joined together to establish the CDA Chair in Diabetes Management and the National Diabetes Management Strategy (TNDMS). CDA and UWO each committed $1 million to the Strategy and committed to raise a further $3 million to support the activities of the Chair and the various components of the Strategy.
Under the leadership of Dr. Stewart Harris, who in January 2008 was appointed the inaugural CDA Chair in Diabetes Management, the over-arching goal of the National Diabetes Management Strategy is to evaluate the status of diabetes care in Canada, with an ultimate goal of reducing clinical care gaps and optimizing the management of diabetes.
