2013 Personnel Awards Competition

2013 Personnel Awards Competition is now open

The Canadian Diabetes Association (CDA) invites Personnel Awards applications for Clinician Scientist, Scholars, Postdoctoral Fellowship, and Doctoral Student Research Awards. All applications are to be submitted online through ResearchNet.

Application Deadline: February 1, 2013 by 20:00 hrs EST (8:00 PM EST).

Please consult the 2013 Personnel Awards Guide below for eligibility, funding, and application submission details for each funding opportunity in ResearchNet. To help you through the submission process, consult the Tables below for page limits.

CDA PIN
Candidates will require a CDA PIN to submit their application, if they do not already have one. Once you have applied for a CDA PIN, you will receive an automatic email reply with your PIN. CDA PINs will need to be entered in ResearchNet when you are applying for the funding opportunity. Primary supervisor and supervisors, if any, do not require a CDA PIN.

SPONSOR ASSESSMENTS
Three sponsor assessment forms must be completed by people under whom the candidate has trained and who have a good opportunity to assess the candidate’s potential for research. The completed forms must be submitted to ResearchNet by the sponsors by the application deadline. For Postdoctoral fellowships and Doctoral Student Research Award candidates, one sponsor assessment form must be from the Primary Supervisor.

COMMON CV
The new Canadian Common CV system has been released by CIHR and can be found here. Applicants must use the CDA Common CV templates under the funding organization Canadian Diabetes Association-ResearchNet:

- CDA Academic Common CV (CDA_Academic_2012_1) must be completed when the full application is submitted.

Applicants will receive a confirmation number when they submit their CDA Common CV to CDA. Applicants will be required to enter this confirmation number in the application in ResearchNet.

Contribution information: CDA recognizes that inputting contribution data into the new CV matrix can be time consuming. For the 2013 competition, applicants may complete the Contributions section of the Common CV either by entering data in the CV or by uploading attachments to the Common CV task in ResearchNet. Please note that page limits still apply when uploading the Contribution attachments.

Official Transcripts: Only Doctoral Student Research Award applications require original transcripts (or authorized photocopy) for each post-secondary institution attended (this includes all undergraduate and graduate studies, and any studies that may be ongoing).

2013 Operating Grant Competition

REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED

The Canadian Diabetes Association (CDA) invites Operating Grant applications for diabetes research. All registrations and applications are to be submitted online through ResearchNet.

Full Application Deadline: February 1, 2013 by 20:00 hrs EST (8:00 PM EST).

CDA offers support for research projects designed to enhance our knowledge of the prevention, etiology, management, and cure of diabetes and related complications; as well as population health, health services, diabetes education, community and practice-based research.

Please Note: The Nominated Principal Applicant on an Operating Grant is not eligible to apply for or hold more than one Operating Grant, at any one time. Only one registration and one full application can be submitted during the competition.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
The Nominated Principal Applicant must be an independent researcher. The Nominated Principal Applicant and Co-Applicant(s) must have an academic or research appointment with an eligible Canadian Institution. For more information, see 2013 Operating Grants Guide below.

Post-doctoral fellows are not eligible to apply as a Nominated Principal Applicant or Co-Applicant on Operating Grant applications.

FUNDING
The maximum amount that can be requested is up to $100,000 annually for a period of up to three years.

- CDA Operating Grant registration (CDA_Registration_2012_1) is required for the registration phase.
- CDA Academic Common CV (CDA_Academic_2012_1) must be completed when the full application is submitted.

Applicants will receive a confirmation number when they submit their CDA Common CV to CDA. Applicants will be required to enter this confirmation number in the registration and full application phases in ResearchNet.

Contribution information: CDA recognizes that inputting contribution data into the new CV matrix can be time consuming. For the 2013 competition, applicants may complete the Contributions section of the Common CV either by filling in the CV or by uploading attachments to the Common CV task in ResearchNet. Please note that page limits still apply when uploading the Contribution attachments (see Table for page limits).

Once you have applied for a CDA PIN, you will receive an automatic email reply with your PIN. Applicants are responsible for validating their co-applicant(s) CDA PIN in ResearchNet.
