DES Goal - Service

To provide an organization that supports diabetes education and diabetes educators in their practice.

• Provide a network of diabetes educators to promote information sharing, communication, collaboration and participative decision-making on issues related to diabetes education.
• Leadership Forums are held annually. These three-day meetings of all the Chapter Chairs, DES Liasons, and DES National Executive provide an excellent opportunity for leadership development and for sharing and networking regarding activities in different parts of Canada. The forums are a vehicle to provide ongoing development of the DES Leadership team.
• The Educator is produced following each National Executive meeting and at other times as needed. This has proved to be an efficient and effective way to communicate with the Chapter Chairpersons, who are then able to disseminate the information to members.
• The DES presence on the internet is increasing and continues to be updated and we hope to make this an even more valuable resource for members.
• DES policies and procedures are posted on the Health Professionals members-only website.

To provide responsible financial management.

• The DES budget is prepared annually and approved by the CDA management team. Chapter financial management has been reviewed and revised. New policies and procedures have been developed.
