Novo Nordisk Conference Scholarships
Changing diabetes.

Purpose
The Novo Nordisk Conference Scholarships support the professional development of diabetes educators in their specialty practice.
The Award
A total of five $1,000 scholarships will be awarded, one from each of the five regions of Canada:
- Pacific – British Columbia, Alberta, Yukon, Northwest Territories, Nunavut
- Prairies – Saskatchewan, Manitoba
- Atlantic/Quebec – Newfoundland Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Quebec
- Ontario
- GTA/Golden Horseshoe – Greater Toronto Area to Niagara-on-the-Lake and points in between
Recipients will receive a plaque at the the Canadian Diabetes Association Professional Conference and Annual Meetings held in October each year. This scholarship is to be used exclusively to attend the conference.
NOTE: If there is no qualified applicant for a particular region, no scholarship will be awarded for that region.
Eligibility
The scholarships are open to:
- Active DES members for a minimum of one year, who are Canadian citizens or landed immigrants.
- NOTE: Members of the DES Awards Selection Committee and National Executive are not eligible for nomination.
Application Process
Requirements
Applications must be typed or submitted in electronic format (i.e. Word document or .pdf) on official forms available through the DES. Handwritten, incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
Successful recipients will be required to write a report on the session they attended for publication in a future issue of Diabetes Communicator.
NOTE: Recipients of the scholarship cannot apply for two subsequent years after they receive the award (i.e.
recipients are not eligible to receive the award more than once every three years).

Submissions must be received by April 1. Recipients will be notified in sufficient time so they can arrange to
attend the presentation ceremony. The five scholarships will be presented by Novo Nordisk at the CDA/CSEM
Professional Conference and Annual Meetings.
