Woman who have had gestational diabetes (GDM) are at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes. Only 25% of woman who have had GDM receive postpartum screening.


Undue delay in establishing a diagnosis of diabetes can have devastating consequences for a child. As many as 39% of children who present to the ER in diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) have seen a physician in the preceding week.
