Dr. Daniel Drucker has discovered two new treatments for type 2 diabetes - breakthrough innovations funded in part by the Canadian Diabetes Association. Dr. Drucker is an endocrinologist and a professor of medicine at the University of Toronto who works at the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute at Mount Sinai Hospital.
“Our lab is supported by operating grants and research funding for graduate students and post doctorate fellowships that helps us remain competitive in research and recruit the finest trainees to our laboratory,” says Dr. Drucker. “We couldn’t do the work we do without funding from the Canadian Diabetes Association.”
Currently, Dr. Drucker’s laboratory at the Lunenfeld is focusing on understanding the biology of glucagon-like peptides, an appetite suppressing substance found in the brain and intestine.
The Association and Dr. Drucker are working together to develop new medications that enhance the lives of Canadians with diabetes. Help us lead the fight against diabetes as we work to find a cure.
