Paying for Rent or Medication: A Decision Canadians with Diabetes Should Not Have to Make

The increasing prevalence of diabetes in Ontario is alarming with approximately 1.2 million Ontarians estimated to be living with the disease.  The Canadian Diabetes Association supports recent findings released from a study conducted by ICES and St. Michael’s Hospital that says access to affordable medications is essential for people with diabetes to manage their disease.  This is particularly true for low-income Ontarians with diabetes who are younger than age 65.

D-Camps Champions

The Davis Family from Halifax, Nova Scotia is very familiar with living with type 1 diabetes. Sisters Rebecca and Erin were both diagnosed at the age of six. Now teenagers, the sisters have united to champion a local Run for Diabetes event in an effort to raise awareness and encourage community support for programs such as D-Camps - something very important to both girls.
