St. John’s IceCaps Supports Newfoundland & Labrador’s Camp Douwanna |

On Wednesday, March 14th, the Association received generous support from the IceCaps Care and Williams Family Foundation. The $5,000 cheque presentation supports the annual Camp Douwanna where children and youth living with type 1 diabetes experience educational and fun camping experience each summer. |

Ernie Whelan leads the fight against diabetes 100 kilometres farther |

Ernie Whelan, the man behind the foundation Gliding Thru Barriers, and four others took their warmest gear to brave the winter conditions and ski across Lake Winnipeg to raise awareness of, and raise funds for diabetes. They completed a trek of 100 kilometres that started out at Hecla Island, Manitoba on Feb. 23 and finished at Victoria Beach on Feb. 27. |

By uniting your voices across Canada you have helped in the fight against diabetes, and told the world just how much we need a cure. The winner of the iPad2 with the most popular post was David Clarke, from Carbonear, Newfoundland, with 4,884 votes! The second place winner of an iPad2 is Gayle Dodgson Curtis with 4,843 votes.
