Bridging the Gaps: A Collaborative Approach to Diabetes in Atlantic Canada |

On November 3rd and 4th, 2011, a group of approximately 50 stakeholders in diabetes care and management attended Bridging the Gaps: A Collaborative Approach to Diabetes in Atlantic Canada held in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This project was made possible due to funding from the Public Health Agency of Canada. Participants brought forward a range of knowledge; expertise and enthusiasm that help set the stage for more regional collaboration. Thanks to the contributions from participants, a report was completed to highlight key messages, best practice examples and opportunities for improvements in diabetes care and services throughout Atlantic Canada. |

March is Nutrition Month and the Canadian Diabetes Association is taking the opportunity this month to bring awareness about healthy living for people with diabetes. Healthy eating and regular physical activity are needed all year round, but many of us need a friendly reminder to get ourselves back on track. Eating healthy is important for all Canadians and one of the cornerstones of diabetes management. |

Sylvester Stallone appearance brings donations to Canadian Diabetes Association |

On February 23, over 900 guests gathered to dine with movie icon Sylvester Stallone and raise money for diabetes education, services and research. Organized by Carmen’s Banquet Centre, the evening was complete with a VIP and dinner reception, and live and silent auctions made up of “Rocky” memorabilia. Over $100,000 raised from ticket sales, donations and evening program went to the Canadian Diabetes Association. |
