Thanking Association volunteers for making a world of difference
In anticipation of National Volunteer Appreciation Week (April 19 to 25) the Canadian Diabetes Association sends a sincere message of gratitude to each of our more than 20,000 volunteers who give selflessly of their time, effort and compassion each and every day. Their incredible contributions allow the Association to serve the more than 2.4 million Canadians living with diabetes in communities across Canada.
“Our volunteers are essential to the work we do and we are grateful for the time and the expertise they share with us and the communities we serve,” says Lisa Diamond, Executive Director, Public Programs and Services, Canadian Diabetes Association. “Their commitment benefits the millions of people living with diabetes across Canada and their efforts help to create healthy, thriving communities.”
Thanks to the significant efforts and commitment of our volunteers, the Canadian Diabetes Association was able to deliver diabetes education programs to more than 78,000 Canadians and raise more than $2.4 million through residential campaigns last year.
Volunteer opportunities at the Canadian Diabetes Association are endless. From advocating your local government to support those living with diabetes to assisting at a Diabetes Expo; volunteers play an integral role in the ongoing fight against diabetes. Current volunteer opportunities include fundraising through initiatives such as special events and residential campaigns, and supporting community outreach through public programs and services, community initiatives, administration and camps for kids with type 1 diabetes.
