Spring Fundraising
April and May provide some great opportunities for themed fundraising. Planning around a special event or milestone can help generate more interest in your event and an increase in your fundraising. Be creative and make it fun for both you and your event attendees. Some dates of note in April and May…
Earth Day – April 22nd
Have an environmentally themed party for Earth Day and encourage participants to arrive by alternate transport. Charge a fee per person and donate the net proceeds to your fundraising campaign. Think of other ways you can generate additional funds at the event such as a live and silent auction of donated, environmentally oriented items. This could also include gently used items provided by attendees. One person’s trash can be another person’s treasure!
Mother’s Day – May 13th
Host an afternoon tea and pamper party for this special day. Charge a basic event fee plus have optional manicures, pedicures and other indulgences that they can purchase. A number of people offer mobile services so check to see what’s available in your community and if they provide special pricing when the net proceeds are being donated to charity.
Victoria Day – May 21st
Victoria Day is a great day to kick off barbeque and picnic season. Host a backyard party or a picnic at a local park and include activities such as croquet, bocce ball and other games that you charge a small fee for and get fun prizes donated for winning teams. Highlight your event destination in everything from the decorations, food, games and any prizes you may be giving away. Many parks allow reservations of tables, BBQ pits and other amenities but you need to book early!
Add birthdays and anniversaries to the list and you have a variety of events to celebrate and turn into a fundraising opportunity!
