In the Spirit of Giving Concert: A Success

imageLast month, a special fundraising event helped to support the Canadian Diabetes Association in Prince Edward Island. “In the Spirit of Giving” was a Christmas concert at the Harmony House Theatre in Hunter River, PEI. The Harmony House venue was graciously donated for the evening by the owners and the event featured some great local talents who truly helped folks get into a giving, festive spirit.

Liz MacArthur began the evening with inspiring and touching remarks about her son Liam, who lives with type 1 diabetes. She also highlighted how the Canadian Diabetes Association has helped her and her family throughout the years. Liam has attended the Association’s D-Camps and has been a champion for various events including the annual Flame of Hope Walk that takes place in Charlottetown.

“The MacArthur family has been generous supporters and volunteers for the Association in so many ways over the years,” says Terry Lewis, Manager of Community Engagement. “Their support on PEI is sincerely appreciated, and we’d like to thank them for organizing a special, entertaining and fun evening.”

More than 100 people attended the event and through ticket sales, the event raised $2,382.00 for the Canadian Diabetes Association. This was the first year for the concert, and based on this year’s success, the family would like to make it an annual event
