Fifteen-year-old Parkland teen returns to Honolulu in support of Team Diabetes
Zak Palek of Parkland is running with Team Diabetes in Honolulu this December for a second time and raising funds to help find a cure for diabetes. Zak’s older brother Nik (17), was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes last year.
Zak and his mother Trish will be returning to Honolulu and will run the 10 k event this year. They have started their training and fundraising looking forward to Honolulu, 2010. “We’re doing the 10 kilometre run this year instead of the marathon,” Zak explained, “It was a lot harder than expected,” he commented, despite hours and kilometers of training the two put in.
The main focus for the mother and son team is raising funds to support the more than 9 million Canadians living with diabetes or prediabetes, especially older sibling Nik. If you would like more information on Team Diabetes or upcoming events, please visit teamdiabetes.ca.
