Knowledge is Key to Fundraising Success!

The best resource for someone new to fundraising is to turn to someone who isn’t. So who are these people you ask? Well, they are all around you!

Personal Networks
We all know someone who has raised money for a charity, for their local school, their kid’s sports team or other cause. It might be a neighbour, a friend, a family member or colleague. Ask them if you can take them for coffee or lunch to find out about their fundraising experience. It’s a chance for you to catch up while they impart some words of wisdom. They can share what they have done and then help you brainstorm some ideas that may work for you.

Fundraising Professionals
Although many activities undertaken by a fundraising professional may be beyond what you want to do, there are a number of articles and blogs that are written by them that offer a plethora of ideas that are adaptable to the average, individual fundraiser. They are quite often accompanied by some great tips and examples to get you started. If you know a fundraiser, even better! Be sure to tap into any expertise you have access to.
