CLOTHESLINE® Spring Fill A Truck event most successful in program history
For the second year in a row, the Clothesline® program held its national ‘Fill A Truck’ event in 72 communities across Canada. Saturday, May 19, 2012, saw Canadians come out in force to support Clothesline® and the Canadian Diabetes Association, with a year over year increase in donations of 247%.
Fill A Truck is a community driven event that asks all Canadians to bring their gently used clothing, small household and electronic donations to one of 72 grassroots events from coast to coast. 100 per cent of the net proceeds raised by Clothesline® directly support the Canadian Diabetes Association and world leading diabetes research, education and advocacy.
The New Brunswick Clothesline® team led the country with an average truck weight of more than 39,000 lbs of donations during the one day event. Newfoundland and Ottawa Clothesline® teams received the second and third highest average truck weights respectively.
Clothesline® and the Canadian Diabetes Association sincerely thank all of our loyal donors who made this the most successful Fill A Truck event to date and ask Canadians to watch for upcoming Fill A Truck events on diabetes.ca/clothesline.
Did you know?
Each year, Clothesline® diverts more than 46 million kilograms of clothing and household items from our landfills. This translates into a savings of 840 million kWh of energy and reduces our donors’ carbon footprint by 115 million kilograms of CO2 emissions. This energy savings is equivalent to saving 8.2 million trees!
