Walk or Run in the Caymans and Disney!

Head South with Team Diabetes this Winter!

We may have just wrapped up winter but Team Diabetes is already planning for our return to warmer climates! Due to the popularity of Cayman Islands we’ll be returning again on December 2, 2012 and we’re also heading back to the fun filled destination of Disney World on January 12, 2013.

image Our inaugural visit to the Cayman Islands was a huge success. Team members raved about the quality of the event and beauty of the destination. Offering a half marathon, marathon and marathon relay, it’s a great event to sign up with friends and family. The course winds through famous neighbourhoods such as the financial district in George Town and along the spectacular beaches. The course is very flat and the half marathon is great for walkers as the course stays open for 6 hours!

Post event the Caymans offers everything you would expect of a tropical destination. Sun, white sand beaches, great diving and snorkeling, world class shopping and nightlife, sailing and more. Your hardest decision will be what to do first! Deadline to register for the Cayman Islands is June 1st!

imageDisney World is popular with all ages – from the young to the young at heart. If you’re looking for a magical escape, this destination is the place to be! The half marathon and marathon wind through the different kingdoms, providing a great distraction as you make your way to the finish line. For those who want to take on an even bigger challenge, the event offers the “Goofy Challenge” whereby you run the half marathon on Saturday and the marathon on Sunday. Sounds crazy but some of our team members actually do it! All participants are rewarded with a coveted Disney themed medal – Donald or Mickey. Goofy Challenge finishers also get a Goofy medal! Deadline to register for Disney is July 6th!

After you have recovered from your run, it’s time to explore. Disney World alone can keep you busy for days and the Orlando area has so many other things to do that you’ll wonder how you will fit everything in. From SeaWorld and Universal Studios to golfing and outdoor adventures, your days will be full from morning until night.
