Amsterdam - Venice of the North
The Netherlands’ largest city and its capital, Amsterdam is a vibrant city that features more than 1,500 bridges over the Amstel river which is full of colourful boats and bordered by a wide array of interesting and impressive buildings. Besides enjoying the views as you float down the canals, Amsterdam is also a great city to explore on foot and by bicycle. A city packed with attractions, you’ll need to extend your stay to take in all the world-class museums and galleries, fine dining, beautiful parks, unique shopping and a thriving nightlife that will keep you busy from the moment you wake up to late into the night! Fortunately there are numerous cafes and restaurants to help keep your thirst and hunger at bay while discovering Amsterdam’s treasures.
Before all that sightseeing though, you need to cross the finish line. Starting and finishing in the impressive Olympic Stadium, the flat course crosses the Amstel River and passes many popular tourist sites including the Rijksmuseum and Vondelpark. Participants can choose to do the 8K, half marathon (21.1K) or marathon (42.2K) so there is something for most everyone.
