How can I access animal insulin in Canada?
Since 2006, two pork-based insulin formulations are available in Canada from Wockhardt UK Limited. Beef-based insulin may be accessed from Wockhardt UK Limited through Health Canada’s Special Access Program (SAP).
What is the Canadian Diabetes Association’s position on the discontinuation of diabetes medication and products?
The Canadian Diabetes Association believes people with diabetes who are dependent on a specific treatment should continue to have access to that treatment, or to an alternative treatment which is viable for them, without extraordinary measures (financial or otherwise), and that appropriate solutions should be available where a product is being discontinued.
