Diabetes Education And Health Services
Ensuring Access To The Best Possible Care
Managing diabetes is a time-consuming process. The requirements for self-care
and self-knowledge are very high; people with diabetes must be aware of their
condition at all times, and make decisions about the management of their disease
on a daily basis.
To make informed choices about their health, people with diabetes need accurate
and up-to-date information and education. Making appropriate decisions, with
support from a qualified health-care team, may lead to a better personal quality
of life and the prevention or delay of complications.
Inappropriate decisions may play a part in leading to devastating and potentially
deadly complications that include heart attack, stroke, blindness, kidney disease
or lower limb amputations.
