BC Internist supports healthy living and diabetes awareness as part of national relay cycling team
VANCOUVER, BC (August 12, 2011) – Dr. Ali Zentner, a Vancouver-based internist specializing in obesity and host of CBC’s Village on a Diet TV series is riding as part of the Cycle 4 What Matters Sanofi Aventis Canada team in support of people living with diabetes. She’ll soon be spreading her healthy living message to communities across Canada and hopes to inspire Canadians to live healthy, active lifestyles while raising funds and awareness to support the work of the Canadian Diabetes Association.
“I have been so fortunate to be surrounded by patients who inspire me. There are so many amazing people who have allowed me to come into their lives,” says Dr. Zentner. “I’ve had the opportunity to effect change in households across this amazing country and I really do believe that we have started a dialogue in Canada about healthy living and obesity that will be the beginning of how we tackle this disease as a nation.”
The national relay cycling event begins in Vancouver on Saturday, August 13th and will finish in Digby, Nova Scotia on September 4. Dr. Zentner will be riding her bike Bella and hopes to meet with Canadians along the way to talk about their own healthy lifestyle goals, challenges and accomplishments.
“Dr. Ali Zentner is a true champion who embodies the spirit and mission of the Association, in support of people living with diabetes,” states Michael Cloutier, President and CEO, Canadian Diabetes Association. “She knows first-hand the challenges people with diabetes face. We appreciate her dedication while taking on this unique challenge and cycling to make a difference.”
